5 Easy ways to introduce self-care rituals into your everyday life & home this month.

Life is busy and downright overwhelming at times. We have a responsibility to keep ourselves healthy, throughout the everyday roller coaster, and that should start with the mind.

Emotional distress, anxiety and worry are part of life; we are all going to be met with adversity and challenging times. When we learn to surf the waves of our emotions we can stay afloat and enjoy all life has to offer. By introducing some wellness & mindfulness practices into our everyday life we are essentially equipping ourselves with life tools and setting ourselves up to brave and weather the storms that come our way.

Introduce these top 5 tips into your everyday life:

1. Create a quiet and comfortable space for a daily time-out

  • Books:

Curl up with your favourite novel or magazine and let yourself get lost in the pages of another world. Reading has been scientifically proven to help boost our positive energy and can be the perfect excuse for some downtime. Technology can have it’s pros and cons; but when it comes to reading and being able to keep up with the latest trends we absolutely love the following apps and subscription services:

  • Air diffusers

Choose your smell and create the perfect ambience for relaxing. Different oils have different characteristics and unique benefits. They can be used to ease stress, boost your mood, and relieve pain from headaches and migraines. They can also help you get a better night’s sleep, quell nausea, and even repel insects. Just a drop or two added to the water in your infuser can create the perfect smell and ambience – have fun with it and play around with smells to find the ones that work perfectly for you. Reading has a number of benefits; it broadens our knowledge, strengthens your brain, improves your health, improves empathy and memory and can make us feel better and more positive. Set-aside 30 minutes in your day to sit down on your favourite armchair, with a cup of tea in hand and get lost in the pages of a new book. 3. Create your own home spa There are so many ways you can unwind and relax in the comfort of you own home.

Our favourite ways include;

  • Take a long hot bath

Run yourself a bubble bath and let your worries and stresses melt away. Enhance your bath and become an expert home spa goer. If you don’t have a bath in your home, a hot shower can also do the trick. Light some candles and an oil diffuser with your favourite aromas, play some music and use your favourite shower gel and products to enjoy some much needed ‘you’ time.

5. Movement

Health can be defined as physical, mental and social well-being. So it important to keep your body fit and active in order to do the same for your mind; and you can do this from the comfort of your own home and surrounding area.

  • Walking

We highly recommend getting out for some fresh air everyday. Walking is free and can be done absolutely anywhere. It can be meditative or a time where you allow your brain to switch off and get lost in nature and your surroundings.
Some additions to make your walk even more enjoyable include; Walking meditation guides; most wellness apps will have fantastic walking meditation guides available for you to listen as you go. Podcasts; listening to your favourite podcast can encourage you to get out and about, and even move for longer than you were planning as you get lost in the world of stories and our favourite – crime. Music; there’s nothing better to get you moving than the beats of your favourite song. With so many genres and tempos out there, you can match your music to the walk of your dreams. Perhaps some classical for a country stroll or some rock for a city sprint. Have fun with it.
